About This Destination
Mt. Palpalan stands at 684 meters above sea level, making it the highest point in Pagadian City. The summit offers one of the most spectacular panoramic views in all of Zamboanga del Sur — a sweeping 360-degree vista encompassing the entire Pagadian cityscape, the shimmering waters of Illana Bay, the surrounding mountains of the Zamboanga Peninsula, and on clear days, even distant islands. The mountain is topped with communication towers that serve the city's telecommunications infrastructure. The journey to the top passes through rural barangays and gradually ascending terrain, with the landscape becoming more dramatic as elevation increases. For hikers and nature enthusiasts, the climb rewards every step with increasingly impressive vistas. The summit area catches strong breezes that provide welcome cooling.
